While the demand for modern energy-efficient housing in the Czech Republic has sharply increased in recent years, the supply of quality low-energy house projects is lacking. One initiative that could boost the trend of energy-efficient housing and bring it closer to Western European standards is the historically first catalog of example low-energy house projects published by the agency Our House.

The new catalog was first introduced to the public at the ForArch 2008 Construction Fair. Visitors were able to familiarize themselves with the project details at booth no. 1 in hall 1 (sector F) of the Prague Exhibition Center in Letňany from Tuesday, September 23, to Saturday, September 27. More information about long-term energy savings and low-energy housing, including the option to order the catalog, can be found on the Xella company website.

38 projects for low-energy housing
The catalog contains 38 projects of modern and traditionally styled houses from the Architectural Office Křivka. Here, you will find family homes designed for urban environments as well as for the countryside. All projects rely on exceptional physical parameters of aerated concrete walls, which are ideal for the construction of low-energy houses. Each house project is developed in two energy standards - YTONG LAMBDA without insulation, corresponding to category B - Energy-efficient house and YTONG PLUS with insulation, corresponding to category A - Extra energy-efficient house (according to the new Energy Certificate of Buildings).

The catalog offers assistance with implementation
The project designer of these catalog houses was well aware that for low-energy buildings, the positioning of the house on a specific plot, its orientation to the cardinal directions, as well as the heating and ventilation methods are especially important. Therefore, they prepared a comprehensive service offering for interested parties to help them on their way to an affordable low-energy house.

The project also involves a number of proven construction companies that will ensure precise and smooth construction of the houses. Even the best project cannot do without careful realization, which is doubly true for low-energy houses. All projects include mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. Customers can also choose from various heating and hot water heating options, including the use of solar collectors or heat pumps.

YTONG is primarily used for the construction of residential and family houses due to its unique thermal insulation properties, which ensure year-round thermal and humidity comfort. Environmentally friendly and energy-efficient production, combined with minimal energy consumption of buildings, ranks aerated concrete YTONG among the most eco-friendly building materials today. Its high precision, low weight, speed, and simple masonry technology also make it suitable for the renovation of all types of buildings. White aerated concrete YTONG is produced exclusively from high-quality natural raw materials, such as silica sand, lime, cement, and water. Therefore, it is ideal for buildings intended for long-term human habitation, including spaces with increased hygienic requirements.
