The construction sector in the Czech Republic is undergoing a period of material uncertainty due to the geopolitical situation. In this context, the question arises whether there is a construction system that meets energy efficiency requirements with a minimized material palette, without relying on additional insulation. One option is single-layer brick masonry, which offers stable parameters without the need for insulation application.

High insulating ability and stability in one element

Modern processed brick blocks HELUZ FAMILY 44 and 50 cm achieve values of U = 0.17 W/m²K and 0.14 W/m²K, respectively, which meets current requirements for the construction of family houses.

The solid construction exhibits an ideal phase shift of the temperature wave, meaning that in summer it prevents overheating of the interior and in winter stabilizes the temperature without the need for frequent interventions from the heating system. The masonry accumulates heat and releases it with a time delay, ensuring a uniform indoor climate and reducing energy peaks.

Additionally, potential risks during the implementation of insulation systems, which most often arise during gluing, anchoring, joining, or in dilatations, are eliminated. These errors can lead to thermal bridges, facade degradation, cracks, or leaks. The single-layer construction completely eliminates these risks, as the thermal insulation function is an integral part of the masonry itself.

Healthy indoor environment and risk elimination

Single-layer brick masonry exhibits excellent diffusion properties that allow for the natural passage of water vapor. Single-layer constructions thus offer significantly lower risks of mold, a stable humidity regime, and therefore a long-term healthy indoor environment. An advantage is also the mechanical resistance of the facade and easier anchoring compared to insulated facades.

The HELUZ brick system is not just a collection of individual block elements, but a comprehensive and interlinked building system, the components of which are designed to form a functional, structurally and thermally optimized whole. The system includes shapes for corner and wall connections, partition elements, solid insert and panel ceilings, and structural elements intended for the implementation of massive roof systems. Also included are the HELUZ FAMILY 3in1 thermal insulation lintels, which allow for the integration of external shutters without disrupting the continuity of the building's thermal envelope and without worsening the thermal-technical parameters of the envelope construction. All system elements are dimensionally and technologically compatible, which ensures high precision in execution, minimizes errors during assembly, and overall simplifies the construction process.
