The company Kährs, founded in the Swedish town of Nybro in 1857, has focused on the production of wooden floors for more than a century and has become the largest manufacturer of such floors on the old continent. Today, it has in its portfolio not only wooden coverings but also vinyl and mineral SPC floors. The brand, imported to us by Kratochvíl parket profi, is synonymous with quality, design and technological innovations, as well as consideration for the environment.

The range of multilayer wooden floors from Kährs is very extensive and covers a wide array of colors, surface finishes, and dimensions of planks, grooves, and wear layers that meet even the most demanding design requirements. Clients can choose wooden floors with brushed, stained, hand-scraped surfaces, sawn textures, floors with an antique appearance, or floors with inlaid pegs that highlight the beauty of raw wood. The final surface finish is offered in natural oil and in satin, matte, ultra-matte, or high-gloss lacquer.

The quality, durability, and longevity of Kährs wooden floors is evidenced, among other things, by the fact that the manufacturer provides a warranty of up to thirty years, for fifteen- and twenty-millimeter floors. Proof of high quality is also the ISO 9001 certification, which the company received in 1993 as the first manufacturer of wooden parquet in the world.

Equally professional is Kährs in its collaboration with architects, to whom it offers on its website BIM objects for most wooden floors in its range. They can thus easily and effectively plan and create visualizations for their projects. Kährs BIM objects contain dimensions, types of wood, surface finish, descriptions, and technical information about the products, as well as links to the relevant technical documents. Kährs BIM objects are designed for ArchiCAD and Revit.

Revolutionary Woodloc joint

Over many years of existence and technological development, the Kährs brand has brought to the market numerous fundamental innovations that have influenced the production of wooden floor coverings worldwide. Among the most important is Woodloc, a revolutionary mechanical locking system that uses no glue. This is the strongest locking joint with maximum precision of mechanical locking, allowing for an absolutely flat surface of the floor without joints. A significant advantage is also the unprecedentedly fast and simple installation. Today, Kährs uses the fifth generation of this system – Woodloc 5S, with which it is possible to cover a floor area of up to fifty meters in length and up to twenty-five meters in width within a single room without expansion joints.

High resistance, easy maintenance

Kährs coverings are advanced in other respects as well, which are currently emphasized. They can be used with underfloor heating, which can be bonded over the entire area or installed as a floating floor. Very practical is also the low maintenance requirement. Kährs wooden floors have one of the best-treated surfaces. They are treated with anti-scratch lacquer, which is not only highly durable and resistant but also eco-friendly, as it has the lowest emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Among the advantages of Kährs layered wooden floors is the possibility of renovation, and that repeatedly. Sandability ranges from three to four cycles over their lifetime, depending on the thickness of the wear layer. In the renovation process, the color of the wooden floor can also be changed, even significantly.

The range of Kährs wooden floors meets the needs of both residential and commercial interiors and also offers solutions for spaces intended for sports activities or social events - the Activity Floor sports floor is equipped with a damping layer on the underside of the planks and can be laid directly on the substrate.

Mineral coverings and vinyls

However, Kährs today no longer offers only wooden floors; the brand has newly expanded its range to include SPC and vinyl coverings. Even in this segment, it has remained faithful to an ecological and natural approach - not only with designs imitating wood and stone, but primarily with the ecological and health-safe composition of these floors. No phthalates or plasticizers are used in the production of all new elastic coverings from Kährs in the SPC mineral floor and vinyl floor categories. The motto of this Swedish brand, imported to us by Kratochvíl parket profi, remains in the elastic coverings segment the wish to "breathe clean and healthy air at home." Kährs Click SPC mineral coverings and Kährs Dry Back vinyls have several certifications, including the prestigious Émissions dans l'air intérieur. Both types of Kährs elastic floors have been designed to improve the indoor environment both acoustically (the IXPE sound-insulating underlay reduces noise transfer) and in terms of air quality.

Consideration for nature

The Kährs brand places maximum emphasis on gentle production and ecological safety of its products. It closely collaborates with forestry authorities and non-governmental organizations to maintain forests as a source of sustainably renewable resources. Its suppliers are companies that hold FSC or PEFC certificates or can prove that the usable wood is sourced in an environmentally friendly manner. Kährs holds the Blue Angel environmental quality mark and is an active member of Greenpeace. Since 1997, it has also held ISO 14001 certification and EMAS registration.
