KOMA MODULAR, a leading Czech leader in the field of modular construction, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. For this significant occasion, it has organized a professional conference on the topic of Modularity in Our Lives, which focuses on the application of modularity in various fields such as industry, art, and education. The conference will take place on September 8 and features an unconventional concept, where half will be held on the academic grounds of Tomas Bata University, and the other half at the KOMA MODULAR premises.

Modularity is a concept whose elements can be utilized in many fields. KOMA understands that modularity can not only be used in manufacturing and construction but also in thinking. Thus, modularity can be applied to various sectors. Some people use modular processes without even realizing it. KOMA has been dedicated to popularizing the topic of modularity for many years.

“Some people utilize the principles of modularity without even being aware of it. Essentially, it involves breaking down a large whole into smaller parts, known as modules, to which we can apply already known and proven practices. The modules themselves can then be used across multiple projects or completely swapped out. This makes use of the principles of circular economy, and the final products are more environmentally friendly,” says Stanislav Martinec, the owner and director of KOMA MODULAR.

The conference features an intriguing mix of speakers from various fields. Professor Ján Košturiak, an innovator and president of the INOVATO platform, will address modularity in thinking and education. The representative of modularity in the world is former diplomat Ilja Mazánek, who is behind the concept of modular airports. The first implementation has just been completed in Saint Louis, Senegal. Visitors can also look forward to David Pavlík, technological director of the logistics company Shipmonk, who worked for 5 years at Elon Musk's SpaceX. Pavlík will focus on modularity in space. Another area of discussion will be modularity and art, which will be presented by the artistic duo Bára Šlapetová and Lukáš Rittstein, known from the ULTRA SUPER NATURAL exhibition in 2020 at the DOX Center for Contemporary Art. Ondřej Chybík, one of the creators of the award-winning modular pavilion at EXPO 2015, will speak on modularity and architecture.

The afternoon program in Vizovice will feature a panel discussion among the speakers, with the addition of surgeon Tomáš Šebek and Lukáš Trčka from the technological innovation institute in Zlín. For interested individuals, there will also be a tour of the company's manufacturing facility.
