The sun is an energy source with unlimited use; it not only provides us with light and heat but can also be used for electricity generation. The PREFA photovoltaic system helps to properly assess and convert solar energy. Renewable energy from solar photovoltaic cells reduces CO2 emissions and thus significantly contributes to environmental protection.
Photovoltaics is a method of generating electricity using solar panels. A solar panel consists of so-called cells, which are made of semiconductor or organic elements and convert solar energy into electricity. PREFA photovoltaic modules have excellent quality and a long lifespan. When converting solar energy into electric current, they achieve high energy gains due to innovative special glass. They are stable, reliable, and withstand heavy mechanical loads. Depending on the installation method, we distinguish between two basic systems – PREFA PHOTOVOLTAIK PS.13 MOUNTED and PREFA PHOTOVOLTAIK PS.13 INTEGRATED.

If you already have an existing PREFA roof on your house and want to enhance it with a solution focused on savings and the future, then the PREFA PS.13 mounted photovoltaic system can be chosen. The system is mounted directly on the roof using a solar fastening system for attachment to various types of PREFA roofing materials. The module dimensions are 1620 x 992 x 46 mm (l x w x h). The warranty on the material of the mounting system is 40 years, and the warranty on performance is 25 years. The mounted modules provide higher energy gains and do not disrupt the aesthetic impression thanks to innovative special glass and bottom ventilation. They are highly stable and reliable for mechanical loads up to 800 kg/m2 (up to 8000 Pa).

For those building a house or reconstructing an old roof on their home, the integrated photovoltaic system PREFA PS.13 is suitable, which is mounted directly into the roof. The photovoltaic modules replace part of the roofing with proven PREFA quality. The dimensions of individual modules are 1496 mm in length, 983 mm in width, and 6 mm in height. The warranty on performance is also 25 years. Additionally, the back glass side has a high fire resistance. Mechanical loads for this module can exceed 700 kg/m2 (up to 7700 Pa).

Before implementing the first or second project, it is good to consider what purpose we want to use the energy from the photovoltaic modules for. There are practically two options. The first is that all the generated electricity from your solar system will be fed back into the distribution network (the purchase price for 2013 is approximately 3.41 CZK/kWh). The second is the so-called "Green Bonus" option, in which you can use part of the energy for your needs and only supply the excess energy, which you do not use yourself, to the distribution network (the price for the green bonus in 2013 is 2.86 CZK/kWh).

With PREFA photovoltaic products, you can cover the average annual consumption of a four-member family (5 kWp capacity) on just 34 m2. Especially at a time when prices of oil, gas, and other fossil fuels are subject to price fluctuations, there is a reason to choose this solution. And what should you not forget? To ensure that all necessary permits are obtained and that you do not overlook any necessary documents, it is better to turn to a reputable company that can recommend a specific photovoltaic cell system to the client and also provide a comprehensive turnkey solution. “If you are not legislative experts, you could forget about various things. Every trustworthy company will not only design the entire system for you, implement it, but will also handle the necessary application for connection, license request, and ensure all inspection reports, conduct trial operation, and finalize the system launch,” adds Jan Bartakovics from Prefa Aluminiumprodukte, which has been dealing with roof solar systems for several years.
