The facade and roof elements of the Kaiserslautern water pressure regulation facility in the local area of Vogelweh-Kleebatt boast a surprising artistic design. Colorful aluminum strips PREFA FALZONAL were used for the realization of this interesting architectural concept.
Kaiserslautern is known as the manufacturing plant of the car manufacturer Opel and also as the largest military base of the United States outside their territory. The unmistakable appearance of the waterworks therefore refers to military camouflage and also to the camouflage of Opel car prototypes that head out on test drives around the building. The design and creative concept of “camouflage” comes from the workshop of the Molter-Linnemann architectural office. The main idea was to embellish the outer shell of the building using a camouflage zebra pattern. A similar camouflage principle was used for the camouflage of ships during World War I.

Precision in every detail
The building was constructed from concrete with a wooden load-bearing structure, onto which white, gray, and anthracite PREFA FALZONAL strips were mounted according to an exact pattern. The sheet metal company Wildner from Westhofen performed impeccable work here. Each strip had to be laid with millimeter precision. The result is fascinating: an impressive zebra pattern that meets all the requirements for perfect camouflage effects.

FALZONAL – universal quality for creative design
FALZONAL is a colored aluminum semi-finished product in folding quality in the form of a strip. The alloy, strength, and coating system are specially designed for all applications using folded assembly techniques. Water-resistant, ventilated double-skin and non-ventilated single-skin roof and wall constructions can be implemented as comprehensive architectural units. FALZONAL is available in various surface finishes: from universal colors to shades of copper, zinc, metallic, and titanium.
