New VELUX: Black roof window in premium quality

The advantages of roof windows for achieving better light penetration, as well as ventilation of interiors, are already well known in the professional community. The leading Danish manufacturer VELUX is introducing a window in an original black design.

The roof window with a black frame GGU BLACK is the manufacturer’s response to the demand from architects and designers for a product that meets all quality demands for a premium product, and whose color scheme aligns with the latest design trends. The premium quality product with a unique design is the perfect choice for customers who are not afraid of more pronounced color solutions.

Maintenance-free and durable

The GGU BLACK roof window belongs to the exclusive VELUX Premium range. The maintenance-free frame combines the advantages of wooden and plastic materials. The core made of special heat-treated wood is covered with a waterproof polyurethane layer, eliminating the concern of maintenance and painting. The manufacturer offers the new product in a standard version with coated aluminum cladding but in a non-standard black color (RAL 9005). GGU BLACK is available only in one size (114 × 140 cm) and with one glazing (66).

Glazing and ventilation

GGU BLACK is glazed with low-energy safety triple glazing (filled with krypton) with an outer glass thickness of 4 mm, providing noise reduction from outside, a self-cleaning layer, and an anti-fogging layer on the outer glass. The ventilation flap allows for ventilation even when the window is closed.
The window includes integrated ventilation and an easily cleanable air filter to trap dirt and insects. The premium roof window is equipped with the ThermoTechnologyTM thermal insulation system: a glued heat-treated wooden profile (TMT) with a 3-5 mm thick polyurethane layer. The final black paint (RAL 9005) is UV stabilized – it does not change color when exposed to sunlight. The black trim in the same shade (RAL 9005) is available for both standard installation (EDW 2500) and recessed installation (EDN 0500).

Easy handling

Opening is secured by a top control handle with a two-step lock. A practical (standard for this series from the manufacturer) solution is the possibility of rotating the sash 160° for easy cleaning of the outer side of the window. For greater comfort, the designer roof window GGU BLACK can be equipped with remote control for electric or solar operation. The electrified roof window can also be connected to the VELUX ACTIVE system, which automatically manages ventilation and shading through sensors to maintain a healthy and natural climate indoors. The window can be installed at an angle from 15° to 90°.

Design

The black window is particularly suited for open modern interiors, standing out especially when combined with a white interior finish. The window contrast frames the view and enhances the visual connection with the surroundings of the house. From the outside, it harmonizes with dark (ideally black) roofing, especially with modern low profiles (titanium-zinc, aluminum, flat concrete roofing).

Accessories

The window is fully compatible with a wide range of accessories for indoor (blackout, shading, or pleated blinds and slatted blinds) as well as outdoor shading (awnings and external shutters or insect screens).
