One of the architectural landmarks of Ostrava, which is imprinted in the city's panorama, will in the future be transformed into a residential building with a café and a viewpoint on the top floor.

During January, the Statutory City of Ostrava prepared a tour of the so-called Ostrava Skyscraper for potential investors. The city government's plan is to reconstruct the high-rise building on Ostrčilova Street into a modern "apartment tower" according to the design of the renowned architectural studio of Eva Jiřičná and Petr Vágner AI Design. In an interesting location in the city center near the Ostravice river embankment, a very attractive living space is expected to emerge.
Interested investors were able to familiarize themselves with the assignment documentation during the tour, as well as the unique features of the building which they can then take into account in their offers. Other tour dates are still possible. Requests for them can be made in writing, according to the established tender conditions. The city will publish information about the date of such a tour on its profile.
The deadline for submitting bids is set until March 31, 2022, at 10 o'clock. Interested parties can find all information and conditions for this public procurement on the city profile or on the website https://pozemky.ostrava.cz/ostravsky-mrakodrap/.
Part of the project is also the strengthening of parking capacities in the form of building a parking house in close proximity to the residential building for its residents and the public. Ostrava is interested in realizing the construction in cooperation with the private sector. The city will be involved in the project even after the construction is completed, actively as the owner of 15 out of an expected total of 70 to 85 apartments, and a significant share of the parking house.
The investor will lead the design phase of the entire project, being the one who prepares the reconstruction of the building and the construction of the parking house according to their vision and requirements, and subsequently realizes it based on the processed documentation.
The basis for the design will be documents prepared by the AI Design studio, which will be binding in parts of the main architectural elements of the building and parking house design that characterize the work and preserve the authorship of Eva Jiřičná and Petr Vágner. For the investor, the design standards defining the apartments and parking house acquired by the city will also be binding.
A similar model, where the object is built by a private investor and the city then purchases apartments and parking spaces from them, has already been successfully used in the New Lauby project, where the implementation is currently underway.
