Fresh air in offices is an important factor influencing concentration and work performance. However, many administrative buildings with glass facades hardly allow for traditional ventilation. Two years ago, the German company Schüco International KG presented the narrowest opening ventilation sash on the market. The Schüco AWS VV (Ventilation Vent) vertical opening window with full filling has a minimum visible width of 170 mm and is ideal for installation in large façade units with fixed glazing. The range also includes sashes with widths of 250 and 300 mm, which can now be equipped with the proven mechatronic hardware Schüco TipTronic. This allows for automatic night cooling and sensor-controlled ventilation. Manual operation at the push of a button is also not excluded if needed. The Schüco AWS VV with TipTronic drive represents an economical alternative to conventional ventilation methods.
The portfolio of Schüco AWS VV ventilation sashes with visible widths of 170, 250, and 300 mm is standardly equipped with completely concealed and flush mechanical rotary hardware Schüco AvanTec SimplySmart. In combination with the TipTronic mechatronic hardware, Schüco AWS VV ventilation sashes can be used either as vertical pivot units or as horizontal tilt systems. A common feature of these solutions is the divided thermal insulation bridge, which prevents the bimetallic effect and allows for the realization of vertical sashes up to three meters high. The bimetallic effect is a physical phenomenon where the profile of the sash bends due to different interior and exterior temperatures. The uncomplicated and time-saving installation of the sashes is aided by cover profiles and multifunctional corner pieces that can be used for all available construction depths and visible widths. The system has undergone rigorous testing and, in addition to burglary resistance class RC 2, also meets measures against unintentional passage by children and adults. Electrically powered sashes meet the highest safety requirements of class 4, allowing their use in spaces such as schools.
More Intense Air Exchange, Ideal for Night Cooling
The opening ventilation sashes of the Schüco AWS VV combine effective room ventilation with a high degree of freedom in design and processing. The surface color of the sash depends on the architect's choice. Even in calm weather, full-height sashes can achieve spontaneous, fan-free airflow of up to 300 m3/h. This corresponds to a fivefold air exchange per hour in a typical office for two people. Up to 30% of the energy needed for cooling can thus be saved. In buildings without active cooling, the Schüco window ventilation system can reduce the number of overheating hours per year to a comfortable level.

Sensor-Controlled Ventilation
To determine the interior and exterior climate, Schüco has a wide range of sensors available. If the CO2 measuring sensors detect that the air in the room is stale and set limits have been exceeded, the Schüco ventilation sash will automatically open. Regular ventilation and reduction of CO2 in the office contribute to better health and concentration. With Schüco sashes, effective ventilation can be achieved in accordance with applicable standards, energy-saving regulations, and workplace directives. An alternative is also hybrid ventilation combined with a fan, for example, via the ventilation unit Schüco VentoTec.
