High costs, high energy consumption, excessive carbon emissions, and the pervasive effects of climate change. These are all challenges that the construction industry must address today. That is why the April BAU trade fair in Munich will take place under the title "Solutions for Environmentally Friendly and Climate-Compatible Buildings." Sustainable construction and renovation have long been the focus of activities at Schüco, a global manufacturer of window, door, and facade systems. Their participation in the prestigious Munich BAU (stand B1/301) is titled "Building Networks" and will showcase not only future-oriented services in the Partnership exhibition but also new product lines and the digitalization of construction in sections called Sustainability, Security, Smart, and Fascination.

The Schüco company perceives sustainability (Sustainability) as a broadly defined challenge and a driving force; therefore, it develops products that contribute to sustainable construction. For instance, the Schüco AOC.TI (Add-On Construction, Timber) system responds to the demand for increased use of renewable resources – wood – while combining innovative technology, maximum design freedom, and contemporary architecture. The Schüco AOC system platform is a deployable structure on a steel or wooden supporting structure; in the case of Schüco AOC.TI, it specifically refers to the aforementioned wood. This approach, which has been awarded a silver certificate in the Cradle to Cradle Certified® program, allows for high load-bearing capabilities of the systems with narrow visible widths of 50, 60, and 75 mm.
In the Security exhibition, Schüco will present its comprehensive range for combatting violent intrusion, fire and smoke, shooting, and explosions to ensure maximum protection for people and buildings.

Smart buildings for an easier life

With smart, networked, and digital products from Schüco, the building envelope becomes an intelligent interface between the interior and exterior. This is made possible by systems for ventilation and building management, access control systems, and door communication, as well as the Internet of façades IoF ID – a small label with a chip containing maximum information and a significant step towards the digitalization of the building envelope. The label is resistant to UV radiation and weather influences, is placed directly on the unit, and primarily creates a unique digital identity for Schüco window, door, and facade units. The IoF ID contains an integrated NFC chip and a QR code that carries all information and documents about the unit. Each element can thus be identified, located, and automatically linked to all information and documentation. The IoF system creates a digital twin of the unit and provides, for example, information about the materials used, carbon footprint, warranties, and maintenance history, with the aim of extending the lifespan of the building.

Fascination with design and aesthetics for unique buildings

In the exhibition space named Fascination, systems up to room height will be displayed, consisting of components that assemble, slide, rotate, or tilt, as well as facades that offer maximum design freedom with an innovative concept of pneumatic sealing for use in high-rise buildings. All of this is evidence that Schüco facilitates the creation of even complex constructions with high demands on design, aesthetics, and consideration of individual customer wishes.

A new product on offer will be the frameless sliding system Schüco AS PD 75.HI Panorama Design with a barrier-free threshold. At the push of a button, the moving element lifts out of the lower outer frame, automatically slides to the side, leaving the threshold recessed for easy and comfortable passage. The outer frames are integrated into the wall, ceiling, and floor. The recessed handle in manual systems completely disappears into the wall. Another high-end product is the platform for the folding sliding system Schüco AS FD (with a basic construction depth of 75 mm or 90 mm) featuring a profile visible width of 90 mm and waterproofing class E750.

Partnership – consulting and services for future construction

In the Partnership exhibition, Schüco will showcase software, training, and consulting services for architects and manufacturers. The Schüco Engineering team regularly provides advice on special constructions for building projects. In the Digital & Fabrication area, the company will present software and tools for effective planning, cost calculation, manufacturing, and installation. In the Global Services section, which includes post-sales service teams, the focus will be on maintenance, repairs, and additional equipment from a single source, along with the Schüco Academy providing expert training on products and software.
