The company Zumtobel presents a new series of wall, ceiling, and pendant lights called SCONFINE, created in collaboration with renowned designer Mateo Thun. The light from the SCONFINE fixtures allows playing with the dimensions of the room. You can achieve the removal of spatial boundaries, which makes the room appear to have a different geometry to the visitor. The play of light creates an optical depth, freeing the space from metric dimensions. As a result, the light effect can remove its boundaries and give it a new impact.

“Light lines, light spheres, light cubes – geometrically well-defined bodies that can be flexibly used according to the principle of modularity. This way, new light units and light installations can emerge, tailored to the conditions of the room. Through consistent composition and precise definition of details, a play of light, shadow, and color arises – dynamic tools for the effect of impressive rooms,” says Mateo Thun about the concepts behind it.
The series consists of ceiling, pendant, and wall lights. The connecting creative element of the different versions is chrome, integrated into the design of the light fixture in various forms.

The SCONFINE LINEA pendant lights impress with their formal elegance. The body of the light fixture captivates due to its low materiality completely reduced to the light effect. The ends of the light are framed with a chrome casing. Three mounting lengths and suspensions exceeding four meters allow for various applications even in high rooms, such as staircases, foyers, or halls. The lights can be installed in a vertical or horizontal position. By using connecting elements, it is possible to create arrangements of lights that achieve seemingly fluctuating light lines, creating the optical illusion of enlarging the room and nullifying spatial geometry.

SCONFINE CUBE is a wall and ceiling light featuring LED technology, where its strength is fully emphasized both as a stand-alone fixture and when using multiple lights. The light creates a dynamic interplay of color and illumination. The standalone LED light with an output of 1 watt is invisibly integrated into the chrome casing of the light with an integrated operating device. The translucent polycarbonate reflector with a pearlescent diffusion optics in the shape of a matte white cube ensures the desired even illumination of the light fixture body.

For the standalone light, the SCONFINE CUBO is additionally available as a module with nine cubes in white, amber, red, blue, and green colors. By overlapping colored light projections, new colors are created, with a spectrum that changes smoothly. The regulation of individual light modules based on randomness within a luminosity range from 5 to 100% ensures a dynamic amplification and dimming of the overall lighting. This creates an effect of depth in the room. The individual cubes have varying heights (70 mm, 100 mm, 130 mm), providing distinction in the geometry of the light fixture. Thanks to the arrangement of the light cluster, always consisting of nine individual modules, the SCONFINE CUBO series perfectly utilizes the possibilities of their design. The calm transition of color changes guarantees an unmistakable metamorphosis of the room's architecture and a stylish atmosphere in bars, restaurants, foyers, and lounges.

The SCONFINE SFERA spherical pendant lights convince with the lighting effect of the partly transparent body coated with a chrome mirror layer. In addition to direct emission, reflections within the light body are created, giving it a floating character. The light sources or LED module are visibly positioned in the spherical light body. The opal inner sphere provides optimized glare protection and, along with the surface metallization, enhances the impression of plasticity and spatial depth.

The SCONFINE SFERA series is available with various light sources, ranging from energy-saving bulbs to modern LED technology. This makes it suitable for various application areas, allowing for optimal adjustment to needs. The SCONFINE SFERA series with a powerful LEXEL LED Module combines all the known advantages of Zumtobel Tempura LED spotlights and ceiling lights while adapting the aesthetics of SCONFINE SFERA lights to individual rooms.

The advantages of LED technology include a long lifespan, eco-friendly light without IR/UV, individually adjustable color temperatures between 2500 K and 6500 K, and brightness regulation between 10 and 100% using easily operable switches.

The environment of the room is significantly influenced by changing color temperatures and brightness regulation. This creates immense advantages when used in retail, in display windows, and on counters, as well as in restaurants or bars, where warm tones can simulate sunset or where cooler color temperatures can be chosen in the same environment during high summer temperatures.

The mentioned lights and other news will be presented by Zumtobel at the light show HIGHLIGHTS 2008 in the central hall of the Trade Fair Palace in Prague on November 4, 2008.
