Slavona s.r.o. is one of the most innovative window manufacturers in the Czech market. Since 2020, the company has been offering a significantly improved version of the successful Progression window. Let’s take a closer look at all the structural changes.
The Progression windows are characterized by a frameless appearance from the exterior, giving the window a minimalist look within the building and allowing the architecture of the house to shine. This is due to the fact that the outer frame is completely covered by the façade system along its visible width, which also improves the thermal insulation properties of the window. The outer frame of the Progression window was previously made of thermally treated wood (thermowood) supplemented by a profile made of the insulating material CompacFoam. Therefore, only one edge connecting to the façade was visible from the entire outer frame, along with the lower part with a drip cap made of composite material (fiberglass bonded with resin).
The newly designed Progression window features an outer frame made of composite profiles, whose inner space is filled with insulating material that has a very low thermal transmittance value. In the standard version, the frame is again covered by the façade on the outside, while the lower profile, due to the material used, no longer has a special drip cap, and this function is ensured directly by a special profile of the lower frame section. The visible part of the frame is finished with a dark grey surface treatment, but it is also possible to choose a different shade.
Builders can now also choose the option of a "revealed" outer frame. In this case, the entire outer frame is not covered, but a certain part of it is left visible. In this case, the entire profile is finished with the chosen RAL color.
Wooden windows are often criticized for the need to maintain their exterior surface. Although maintaining wooden windows with modern surface treatments using maintenance kits is easy and no longer requires complicated paint removal and repainting, it is still necessary to preserve their long lifespan. With Progression GRP windows, even this maintenance is unnecessary, and taking care of their surface is no different from that of aluminum or plastic windows.
The use of a combination of wood and composite has advantages that are worth considering when choosing windows. Wood in the interior creates a pleasant atmosphere of a cozy home, while the external composite frame provides perfect protection for the windows. Due to its well-thought-out construction, it does not create thermal bridges, but rather provides additional thermal insulation. The use of composites also lends strength and shape stability to the window frames.
Although the newly designed Progression window has been on the market for a relatively short time, its unique construction, design, and other properties have gained popularity not only among customers but have also achieved considerable success with professionals. The window is certified for category A by the prestigious Passivhaus Institute Darmstadt and in April 2021, it won the British competition Green Home Awards as the best low-energy window system. In September 2021, the window received an honorable mention at the international construction fair ForArch in the Grand Prix competition.
