The third year of the professional conference Timber Constructions in Practice, organized by Rigips, s.r.o., took place on November 5-6, 2009, at the Skalský Dvůr hotel near Nové Město na Moravě. The number of participants from design and construction companies specializing in timber construction reached approximately 200 people. The course of the conference and the high number of interested participants clearly confirmed that the topics of timber constructions, with an emphasis on practical experiences, are increasingly attracting the attention of the professional public.
During the two-day conference, 21 lectures were held, and the entire event was supported by 23 partners. The conference was included in the lifelong learning project of ČKAIT and was awarded 2 credit points. It was held under the patronage of the Association of Suppliers of Prefabricated Houses.
The professional lectures addressed current issues, the certification of timber constructors, experiences with the Green Savings program, compositions of timber construction structures related to the energy performance certificate of buildings, the internal environment of energy-efficient houses, as well as new constructions with panel materials, safe smoke duct penetrations through the timber construction wall, building acoustics, details resolved in projects using software, and many other topics. Each focused on practice, experiences, proper and improper procedures, and solutions for timber construction.
Throughout the conference, technicians from several partner companies were available, presenting correct technological solutions, demonstrating material, product, and tool options, as well as proper work procedures.
The entire professional program received very positive feedback. The speakers were specialists in their fields and shared their experiences and insights at a high level. Evidence of interest in the topics was certainly the full hall of listeners even in the late afternoon hours.
It is not possible to list all the interesting contributions here. The greatest attention and also very high ratings in the questionnaires were gained by the participants for lectures on the topics “Solutions of Details in Timber Constructions” (J. Provázek, Rigips, s.r.o.), “Renovation of Sloped Roofs” (K. Bulín, Dörken, s.r.o.), “Diffusion-Open Structures of Timber Constructions” (Prof. Ing. J. Krňanský, CSc., Insowool, s.r.o.) and “The Internal Environment of Energy-Efficient Houses with a Focus on Timber Constructions” (doc. Ing. J. Chybík, CSc., Faculty of Architecture Brno University of Technology).
Among the most prominent lectures addressing material application technology were the topics “Compositions of Timber Construction Structures Related to the Energy Performance Certificate of Buildings. Decree No. 148/2007 Coll.” (Ing. Tomáš Sobol, energy auditor) and also “New Constructions with Panel Materials Blue Acoustic for Improving Acoustic Comfort” (Ing. J. Otta, Rigips, s.r.o.). The issue of “Building Acoustics – Evaluation of Real Measurement on the Construction Site” (RNDr. Josef Vrána, CSc., head of CSI, a.s. in Zlín) and also “Controlled Ventilation with Heat Recovery” (Ing. J. Jabor, Atrea, s.r.o.) were among the highly discussed contributions.
Based on all the positive feedback, Rigips is preparing the fourth year of the Timber Constructions in Practice conference, which will be held again in November next year.
