Prague – On Saturday, June 6, Kramář's Villa will open to the public in Prague's Hradčany district. The residence of the prime ministers will offer free tours of the interiors, gardens, and views of Prague, the government office announced today.

The first Czechoslovak prime minister, Karel Kramář, had this residence built between 1911 and 1915 according to the design of Vienna architect Friedrich Ohmann. The Neo-Baroque building, with elements of Art Nouveau and symbolism, is one of the significant examples of Prague architecture.

The expansive complex, with more than 50 rooms, offers representative salons, studies, dining rooms, and a billiard room. For its time, the villa provided extraordinary comfort, including an elevator and central heating.

The villa's fate reflects the history of the 20th century. Shortly after moving in, Karel Kramář was arrested in 1915 and convicted of treason. He was amnestied in 1917. During World War II, the building was seized by the Nazis, and in the 1950s, it came under the control of the communist state. In the 1990s, the villa underwent extensive reconstruction and has served as the official residence of the prime minister and a venue for diplomatic negotiations since 1998.

Guided tours will be conducted in groups from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Visitors will meet at the villa's gate. Admission is free and no prior reservation is required.
