A parking garage for about 75 cars will be built in the housing estate in Vyškov

Vyškov – Next year, a parking garage with a capacity of about 75 cars will be built in the Tyršova housing estate in Vyškov. An additional 30 public parking spaces will be added in the surrounding area. The city hall announced this on the website. The housing estate has long been overloaded with vehicles. The amount of investment is not yet known.

The garage will be built on an unused part of the land in the premises of Tyršova Elementary School. It will be a low two-story building, with one floor sunk underground. "This is not a 'traditional' multi-story parking garage – the sober project planned for Tyršova Street appears more natural and fits better among the surrounding buildings," said Vyškov's deputy mayor Karel Goldemund (VY association). The building will have approximately 50 individual garages, with the remaining spaces on the roof.

The building will feature a green outer shell. "Climbing plants on the façade are proving to be an element that helps better integrate the building into the housing estate environment and soften its overall appearance. Moreover, it's not just the garage building itself. The construction will also include new public parking spaces, which will alleviate parking in the vicinity and benefit all residents of the estate. We are talking about another approximately 30 public spots," Goldemund stated.

The project responds to the long-term shortage of parking capacity in Vyškov's housing estates. The city has decided to address the situation in cooperation with the private sector. The city council approved the sale of the necessary part of the land earlier this spring.

The investor is currently completing the project documentation and expects to receive a building permit by the end of the year. The garages will be offered for purchase primarily to residents of the adjacent area, while the remaining capacity will be released for open sale. After completion, the investor will manage and operate the facility.
