Blansko - The renewal of the popular recreational area Palava in Blansko will begin this year, with completion planned for 2027. The original estimate was 124 million crowns, but it has now risen to 168 million crowns. The Blansko town hall announced this on its website.
The city has secured a grant of over 63 million crowns for the project. The Palava recreational area on the eastern edge of Blansko is a place for relaxation, sports, and family outings. It stretches around the Palava reservoir, which was created in the 1970s.
According to the mayor of Blansko, Jiří Crha (ODS), there have been changes and additions to the project. "For example, the rerouting of the road to Češkovice has been added to the project, which requires structural safety measures costing approximately 8.8 million crowns. The project will also include a new electrical installation for the entire area, including low voltage distribution and public lighting for around 12 million crowns, as well as the repair of the joint facility on the dam for 0.6 million crowns," the mayor listed.
The area is to undergo renewal more than half a century after its opening. The project aims to modernize it and expand leisure options for visitors, as well as resolve the traffic situation towards the Sever housing estate and Češkovice. It will include improvements to access roads, new parking spaces, as well as adjustments to the banks, the addition of greenery, a new pier, seating areas, and a water playground in the Palavský stream section. Benches, barbecue spots, drinking fountains, and changing rooms will also be added to the area.
The city announced a tender for the work in July this year, to which two bidders applied. The evaluation committee selected a suitable offer, but before approving the selection of the bidder, the council turned to the councilors, who approved the selection. Work is expected to commence in November this year, with completion scheduled for June 2027.
