Slaný will reissue the tender for the cultural center in the former district house

Slaný – At the end of July, Slaný in the Kladno region will announce a tender again for a cultural center in the former district house. The original tender was canceled by the city in the spring of this year because the selected company announced after evaluation that it could not meet the conditions. The new tender, which is expected to exceed 100 million crowns, has been adjusted. If there are no complications, work on the former district house could begin this autumn and last approximately two years, said the mayor of Slaný, Martin Hrabánek (ODS), to ČTK.

The original public contract was released by the city leadership last September. Due to grants, it included a condition to invest more than 20 million crowns by the end of May this year. The new assignment does not have a schedule so precisely planned, as the grant conditions have also changed.

The historic building of the district house is currently unused, and the city, together with experts and the public, has been exploring its possible uses. "Surveys and targeted interviews, along with design assessments, have indicated that this is probably the best option for utilizing the district house," explained Hrabánek.

The new cultural and educational center will include a city library, a modern study room, and space for organizing lectures, concerts, and other events for the public. The majority of the costs will be covered by the city through European grants.

The neo-Renaissance district house in Slaný, built in 1902, is a protected monument. It was designed by architect Jan Vejrych. Until 1918, the building housed the Slaný District Authority, later the District Office of the political district of Slaný, and subsequently, for example, the office of the administrative district of the same name.
