The construction of the apartment buildings Třešňovka in M. Lázních continues, as voted by the councilors

Mariánské Lázně – The search for a contractor for the construction of apartment buildings Třešňovka, costing approximately 215 million crowns, continues in Mariánské Lázně. An extraordinary meeting of the council today concluded with the rejection of the agenda, which included a proposed point by some councilors regarding the cancellation of a non-limit public contract. Interested parties can still apply for the contract, as the tender remains open until July 28.

Of the 18 councilors present from the 21-member council, nine voted in favor of discussing the agenda, four were against, and five abstained. Mayor Martin Hurajčík (ANO) ended the extraordinary council meeting. The councilors continued to discuss in a working meeting.

The cancellation of the tender was pushed for by a group of ten opposition councilors from SPD, Pirates, STAN, ODS, and Freedom, led by former deputy mayor Samuel Zabolotný (elected for ANO, now Our Czech Republic - Our Mariánky). They cited as a reason, among others, that the city council announced it without the council's approval. They also consider it problematic that the outgoing city leadership wants to bind the hands of the future council with such a large commitment, Zabolotný added.

Mayor Hurajčík repeatedly told ČTK that the contract is issued according to all rules and in full compliance with the law. The city plans to take out a loan for financing. The intention was approved by 13 councilors at the last meeting in June. The selection of the banking institution will be carried out through a request to cooperating partners, from which the municipality expects to obtain favorable contractual conditions, Hurajčík stated repeatedly.

Mariánské Lázně plans to construct four five-story apartment buildings with 46 apartments in the Třešňovka area. The city has chosen the "design and build" model. Applicants have at their disposal an issued building permit and specified construction standards, on the basis of which they will prepare the project documentation and ensure the construction. According to Hurajčík, the city has just under 30 of its own apartments in its housing stock. No municipal rental housing has been started in the last 25 years. "The Třešňovka project is an important step for young families, key profession employees, and seniors to find quality and affordable housing in Mariánské Lázně," he reiterated.

Mariánské Lázně, with 14,000 residents, operates on an annual budget of over 600 million crowns. The share of investments in the budget has ranged between 22 and 26 percent in recent years.
