Tišnov – The councilors of Tišnov in Brno confirmed the selection of the winner of the architectural competition for the design of the new city house, which is to include a gym, a parking garage, and commercial spaces. The competition was won by the team of Brno architect Pavel Jury – JURA ET CONSORTES, who had already designed a new funeral hall for Tišnov. The city announced the results of the competition in a press release.

The city house with 100 parking spaces, a gym, and several shops is planned to be built on an undeveloped area at the intersection of Riegerova and Drbalova streets. A total of 49 author teams expressed interest in participating in the competition. The jury selected six from them, which developed their proposals in two anonymous rounds.

"Riegrova Street is a generous urban avenue, and the new building completes it in its most prominent part. Its relationship to the surrounding buildings and the character of the public space it creates played an important role in the jury's decision-making. Given that the main functions of the building are parking and sports, it was not a simple task. Neither of these functions alone contributes to creating a vibrant urban environment, and finding a suitable architectural solution was not easy for the competitors,” said jury chairman architect Aleš Burian.

According to the jury, the proposal represents a quality and comprehensively considered solution that connects urban, architectural, and technical aspects of the assignment at a high level.

The city is now awaiting a tender for the preparation of project documentation, with work on it expected to begin later this year. The planned construction will likely need to be divided into several parts due to its estimated cost.

"
The construction itself will be financially demanding, with preliminary estimates around 200 million crowns. Such an investment will most likely require external financing. Therefore, it is good that it is possible to divide the potential construction into individual operational parts, namely a separate parking garage and a gym, which will enhance the sports facilities in Tišnov not only for the surrounding educational institutions," said the city's mayor Jiří Dospíšil (MOST).

The spaces for shops are only a supplementary part of the project and are intended to support the active use of the ground floor of the building and enliven the surrounding area.
