In the Rehabilitation Institute in Brandýs nad Orlicí, a new building for cranioprogram will be constructed

Brandýs nad Orlicí – A new building for the cranio program will be constructed at the Rehabilitation Institute in Brandýs nad Orlicí. It will primarily serve as a facility for providing comprehensive intensive rehabilitative care to patients with acquired brain injuries. The estimated value of the construction work is nearly 352 million crowns including VAT, according to a press release from the Pardubice Region, which establishes the institute.

"The Rehabilitation Institute in Brandýs nad Orlicí has many years of experience in the care of neurological patients, has a quality staff, and is already providing the cranio program on a smaller scale. The new building will allow for a significant expansion of this program and will create appropriate modern conditions for both patients and employees," said Governor Martin Netolický (43PK).

The institute has been providing the cranio program since October 2024. Its components include intensive neurorehabilitation involving, for example, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and psychological care. During the preparation of the program, a modern robotic gym equipped with devices for the rehabilitation of patients with acquired brain injuries was also opened at the institute. The cranio program is aimed at patients after ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes and those who have suffered craniotraumas. The goal of rehabilitation is to achieve the greatest possible functional improvement in health status and to facilitate the patient's return to normal life. In patients after a stroke or severe brain injury, time and the intensity of subsequent rehabilitation play a very important role. This care is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and nursing staff.

The new facility will be connected to other parts of the institute and will include a patient ward, a nurses' station, an outpatient clinic with a waiting room, and extensive rehabilitation facilities including exercise areas for physiotherapy. By relocating the cranio program to new spaces, part of the main building of the institute will be freed up. It will be possible to use it for further development of the care provided and to increase the comfort of patients, for example, by creating new single patient rooms, expanding the range of treatments, or creating spaces for supplementary services such as hairdressing or pedicure.

The regional leadership has approved the initiation of a tender for the construction contractor. The institute will also contribute to the financing through contributions from the investment fund spread out until 2040. The governor does not anticipate obtaining a grant from European funds.
