Brno – The premises of the Novolíšeňská primary school in Brno-Líšeň will be expanded with a sports hall, new specialized classrooms, and a multipurpose hall. The investment of 400 to 450 million crowns was announced by the mayor of the district, Břetislav Štefan, in a new edition of the district newsletter.

"The modern sports area will allow for physical education classes, training for sports clubs, and hosting tournaments and competitions. It will include facilities for athletes and visitors, spectator stands, and refreshments," Štefan stated. According to the mayor, the capacity of sports facilities in Líšeň has long been at its limits. "School gyms and sports facilities are practically in constant use, and a similar situation exists in the surrounding city districts," he pointed out.

In addition to the sports hall, the school premises will also feature new specialized classrooms, teachers will receive new offices, and there will be a multipurpose hall that can host lectures or cultural events. "An important part of the project is also the transportation solution. The new access road and parking will be directed from Mifkova Street. This will reduce traffic on Klicperova, Kocourková, and Rašelinova streets and enhance the peaceful character of the development," Štefan added. The project also includes planting greenery, and green roofs are planned as well.

The municipal district is currently preparing a tender for a designer and will apply for a building permit. Due to high costs, the mayor stated that it will be necessary to involve funds from the city budget, and state money or financing from grant programs could also help.
