Znojmo – Znojmo has announced two tenders for project documentation for the transformation of the surroundings of Loucký Monastery. Instead of a parking lot next to the swimming pool, a parking house is to be built, and a park intended for relaxation and sports is to be created between the monastery, the swimming pool, and the streets Aninská and Za Plovárnou. According to Mayor František Koudela (ODS), the city wants to be prepared for the implementation of projects and any opportunity to obtain funding from grant programs, he said in a press release.

"The new programming period for grant applications will begin in 2028, and we want to be well prepared," Koudela said.

The Loucký Monastery and its surroundings are a part of the city that has been developing quite dynamically in recent years and will continue to develop. As a result, more visitors will come than ever before. The parking lot next to the swimming pool will accommodate 206 cars, while the parking house is to have a capacity of 368 spaces. The project documentation will build on an already completed architectural study.

"The development of the area around Loucký Monastery must also be matched by transportation infrastructure. The new parking will be used by visitors to the Riding Center, Louka Center, swimming pool, or indoor swimming pool. At the same time, we are placing great emphasis on ensuring that the chosen solution sensitively respects the environment of the national cultural monument of Loucký Monastery and fits naturally into it," said Deputy Mayor Jiří Kacetl (Pro Znojmo). In the future, a hotel in the former officers' pavilion is also planned to be built nearby.

Similarly, the park project called Louky pod Loukou will build on the already completed study. "We have been working on this area since 2021. Since then, we have prepared a study, presented the intention to the public, and successfully completed the acquisition of all necessary land. Thanks to this, we can move the project to the next phase. I believe that in the next electoral term, we will already start transforming this underutilized area into a quality public space," said Deputy Mayor Jakub Malačka (Naše Znojmo).

The study includes the modification of greenery, the construction of a children's and multifunctional playground, pump track, and other leisure elements while maintaining the park character. The project documentation will be prepared so that it can be implemented in phases. It will also include a solution for the traffic connection of Aninská Street with the planned roundabout at Vídeňská, Brněnská, and Klášterní streets. The goal of combining these traffic measures is to divert traffic from the currently overloaded intersection of Melkusova Street and Dukelských bojovníků and to relieve the congested Loucká Street.
