Znojmo - The Loucký Monastery in Znojmo has had another 26 repaired or refurbished windows installed on the southern facade of the prelature building. The replacement or repair cost 2.5 million crowns. In total, there are 237 repaired windows and one door in the entire monastery. The Znojmo municipal office informed about this in a press release.

"For some of the windows, refurbishment was carried out, while others were newly manufactured and installed. All window replicas, their materials, and colors are based on historical documents, and their appearance had to be approved by the heritage preservation authority. The windows are box-type and are made of solid larch with a matte ivory-colored finish. The interiors have also been complemented with solid larch sills in the same color shade, and nine windows on the first floor have newly installed inner shutters. The outer sills are metal," stated the municipal spokesperson Soňa Chmelíková. The city received a grant from the Ministry of Culture's Program for the Preservation of Architectural Heritage in the amount of 700,000 crowns for the repairs.

Repairs of the windows will continue next year, with plans to address the facade of the prelature facing the park. "We want to continue with the renovations, and that's why we also submitted an application for a grant in September of this year for the revitalization of the riding hall. A financial support of nearly 70 million crowns would help us repair this space for various cultural events as well as artistic activities and workshops," said Znojmo Mayor Jakub Malačka (independent for ČSSD).

The area of the former Premonstratensian monastery has been a heritage site since 2017 and is one of the largest urban landmarks. In addition to the windows and the old school, the city has also repaired the former riding hall and the facade of the former stables. Part of the monastery is used by the Znovín Znojmo winery. The city has owned it since 2010.
