Přerov

Přerov - Nearly 200 proposals arrived in the public competition for the logo of Přerov, which the local municipality wants to use on its promotional materials. However, the city leadership has not yet agreed on the five best proposals that were to move on to the next round. The selection of the most successful proposals should continue in the coming days. The municipality previously estimated the costs of changing the visual style at half a million crowns. The competition had to be canceled last autumn due to an error and was announced again.

"A total of 197 proposals of varying quality came into the competition, as is often the case with such a quantity. We are pleased with the rich participation in this competition; however, the council has still not decided which proposal proceeds, as they are taking their time to consider," said councilor and architect Jan Horký (Together for Přerov) to ČTK. He noted that the proposal for the five best artistic entries will be re-submitted at the next council meeting.

The public competition for the city logo was announced by the Přerov municipality for the second time. The first round had to be canceled last autumn. The reason was an error in the assignment of the contract, which was pointed out by one of the applicants. Interested parties thus had to submit their proposals once again, in accordance with the new rules.

The search for a logo is part of the unified visual style that Přerov will have for the first time in its history. The author of the winning proposal will receive 100,000 crowns, the second-place contestant will receive 40,000 crowns, and the third most successful participant 30,000 crowns. A contract will be signed with the winner to create a complete graphic manual, which will cost approximately 200,000 crowns. However, if the council does not agree on the best proposals, it is not excluded that the competition will be canceled.

Many cities in the Olomouc region use logos. The last time a similar competition was announced was by the Prostějov municipality, but the search for a visual style there ended unsuccessfully. Originally, people submitted 204 proposals to the public competition, five advanced to the final round, but none appealed to the councilors, and therefore the city canceled the competition. It then approached graphic designer Věra Marešová, who had already created the logo and visual style for Brno. However, in the end, the city did not enter into a licensing agreement with her.
