Přerov - The town hall in Přerov will not ultimately have its unified visual style, which the city sought in a public competition since last autumn. Council members could not agree on the most successful proposals recommended by the expert committee. Nearly 200 designs were submitted by graphic designers to the competition, which the city had to announce twice due to an error. The city also involved its residents in the voting process. Thus, Přerov will continue to represent only the emblem with towers and a bison head, which is a reference to the history of Přerov. This was reported today by the town hall spokesperson Lenka Chalupová.

The committee recommended five of the best proposals to the city from the selected designs, but no logo resonated with the majority of council members enough to award it first place. "We only awarded second place with a reward of 40,000 crowns, the third design will be valued at 30,000 crowns, and the authors of the other three designs will receive a sketch fee of 15,000 crowns, as they developed their proposals to the required detail," stated council member Jan Horký (Together for Přerov). Originally, it was planned that a contract would be signed with the winner for the creation of a complete graphic manual, which would cost about 200,000 crowns.

The town hall had previously estimated the costs of changing the visual style at half a million crowns. The city initially intended to use the logo on its promotional materials, documents, business cards, and web presentations. The town hall hoped for easier marketing presentation from a unified visual style. All submitted designs intended to represent the city will be made available for the residents to view during the summer in the Exhibition Hall Passage.

A similar outcome occurred two years ago when a new visual style was sought in Prostějov, which also ended in failure. People submitted 204 designs to the public competition, and five progressed to the final round; however, none appealed to the council members, so the city canceled the competition. It then approached graphic designer Věra Marešová, who had already created a logo and visual style for Brno. However, the city ultimately did not sign a licensing agreement with her.
