The city directly approached these domestic and foreign architectural offices as part of the announced competition: Acad. arch. Petra Hájka from Prague, along with the other invitees Ing. Arch. Robert Konieczny with KWK PROMES from Katowice, Arch. DI Arkan Zeytinoglu from Vienna, Arch. Irakli Eristavi from the company zerozero s.r.o. from Prešov, and the architectural office Wenink, Holtkamp Architecten from Eindhoven.
By Friday, February 24, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., other interested parties outside the approached five can submit their applications for participation in the competition.
The competition conditions are published here. They are also listed on the website of the city in the section – frequently searched – architectural competitions and also on the main page under the "architectural competitions" banner. Friday, April 21, 2017, is the last day for submitting competition designs by the invited competitors.
”At the turn of April and May, we will invite a maximum of ten competitors who will submit more detailed proposals for the second round of the competition. We want to decide on the winner before the summer holidays. Based on the consent of the councilors, we will assign a public contract to the winner for the preparation of complete project documentation. The realization of the winning proposal could start in mid-2018,” adds Mayor Tomáš Macura regarding the announced competition.
The organizer of the competition is the well-known Brno architect Ludvík Grym, who says about the competition: “With the chosen competition format, the client is assured of the participation of top architectural offices and does not close itself off to others, thereby creating the much-desired competitive environment. A competitive environment in terms of quality and not, for example, in terms of dumping, because the cap on pricing for both implementation and project costs is limited by the competition conditions,” added the competition organizer Ludvík Grym.
The jury will consist of: dependent members of the jury, Mayor of Ostrava Tomáš Macura, city councilor Lukáš Semerák, director of Plato Ostrava Marek Pokorný, and independent jurors, Prague architect Pavla Melková, Brno architect Zdeněk Fránek, architect Pavol Paňák from Bratislava, and architect Ivan Reiman from Berlin.
