Brno - The city hall in Kyjov plans to announce an architectural competition in the first quarter of this year for the use of the old dairy building in the city's center. Antonín Kuchař, the deputy mayor of Kyjov (Independent Twenty-Seven), told ČTK today. The city purchased the building from a private entity for eight million crowns, but it still does not know what will be done with the site. Nothing has been produced inside for about ten years. According to Kuchař, clarity could come by the end of the year. The possibilities include the creation of a wellness zone, housing, but also other options.

The city acquired the building, which includes a production hall, storage space, and land of nearly 5,000 square meters. There were several reasons for the purchase. "The space is in the city center and is a lucrative plot. However, the building is not in very good condition and the surroundings are rather unsightly," Kuchař said. The city hall also wanted to prevent someone else from buying the land who could, for example, build a dormitory for socially maladapted people.

However, since last year, the project has not progressed, and the city still does not know how to utilize the dairy. "We had a discussion with the public, but not many people attended. Therefore, we want to announce an architectural competition and select what will be the most suitable. We do not want to rush anything," Kuchař stated.

According to him, there is a possibility for relaxation, but also for use by entrepreneurs or administration, shopping, social or sports center, but apartments are not ruled out either. However, until it is clear, it is not possible to estimate the costs that the investment will require.

About 11,500 people live in Kyjov. The city has an approved budget of approximately 218 million crowns for this year.
