- The competition will be announced on January 4, 2016, and will consist of two rounds.
- In addition to representatives of the city, a significant number of experts will be on the judging panel.
- Residents of the city participated in the formulation of the architectural and urban planning competition brief.

“Our square has a long history, during which several modifications have been made, with which we are not entirely satisfied today,” says the mayor of the city Ondřej Lochman, summarizing why the city leadership decided to seek a new solution for the space in the form of a design competition. The official announcement is set for January 4, when complete conditions and materials will be published on the city's website www.mnhradiste.cz.

The competition will consist of two rounds. “In the first round, the focus will mainly be on understanding the character of the place, smart transportation solutions, and an overall spatial concept,” explains the city's architect Jakub Chuchlík. “The brief for the second round will be specified based on the results of the first, which will help us get closer to the optimal solution,” adds Chuchlík.

The results of the competition will be known at the beginning of May, and they will be decided by the expert jury. Besides representatives of the city, it will include architect Jitka Ressová from the Zlín studio Ellement, landscape architect Vladimír Sitta from the Australian studio Terragram, architect Markéta Zdebská from the Prague studio By architects, and Jakub Adamec from the Liberec studio Anuk architekti. The invited expert adviser to the jury is transportation urbanist Tomáš Cach and preservation experts.

The announcement of the competition was preceded by careful formulation of the brief, which was developed in collaboration with citizens. “The square is a common public space of the city; it was obvious for us to discuss its future form with its users,” states Mayor Lochman, referring to the public survey and structured public debate that took place during the autumn. In both cases, over a hundred people commented on the square.
