The company ViGroup announced an anonymous urban planning and architectural competition for a four-star hotel in Zuberec, which should also provide services to the public.

A new higher-standard hotel facility will be added in Zuberec. It is to be built by the Slovak company ViGroup, which has been active in the real estate market since 2005. In addition to residential buildings and multifunctional facilities, the company also has in its portfolio the residential apartment houses Vila Zuberec, located directly in the village. The new wellness hotel will be situated in the extravilane above the village of Zuberec in the Pribiské area.

The hotel is expected to provide services at a four-star standard for 160 guests, or about 80 beds. The future clientele of the hotel will primarily be families and organized groups, as well as individual tourists. The hotel will also feature a restaurant, café, multifunctional hall, swimming pool, and wellness area with five saunas. These facilities will serve not only for the accommodated guests but also for the public.

To achieve the best possible design, ViGroup decided to find the form of the hotel through an architectural competition. The aim of the competition is to obtain a quality proposal that will be an example of first-class and sustainable architecture in a mountain setting.

The winning design will be determined by a panel of experts, chaired by architect Ľubomír Závodný. Other independent members include architects Andrea Ambrovičová Mikulajová and Jana Benková, architects Antonín Novák, Michal Krištof, Andrej Olah, and the mayor of Zuberec, Vladimír Šiška. Dependent members of the jury are Richard Duška, Juraj Duška, and Barbora Vargová.

The design competition is in two rounds. Participants can submit their proposals until January 10, 2021. The jury will select a maximum of 6 best proposals for the second round, which will also include a personal presentation. The design that places first will receive a reward of 20,000 euros. A sum of 12,000 euros is allocated for the second place, and 8,000 euros for the third. A total of 12,000 euros is reserved for rewards for participants in the second round. The results of the competition are expected to be announced in April of the following year.
