The European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation yesterday announced the nominations for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture / Mies van der Rohe Award (EUmies Awards) for 2024 in Vilnius. A total of 362 significant works from 38 European countries will compete for the award.
The jury will select 40 exceptional projects in the next phase of the competition and, from those, finalists in February, whom they will visit personally. This will provide an opportunity for conversations with architects, their teams, clients, and people affected by the works. The winner will receive a sculpture by Xavier Corberó as well as a financial reward of €30,000.
This year's jury is chaired by Frédéric Druot (Paris/Bordeaux), joined by Martin Braathen (Oslo), Pippo Ciorra (Rome), Tinatin Gurgenidze (Tbilisi/Berlin), Adriana Krnáčová (Prague), Sala Makumbundu (Luxembourg), and Hrvoje Njiric (Zagreb).
