The Pardubice Region announces two competitions for the repairs of the House of Music

Pardubice - The Pardubice Region is announcing two competitions for the repairs of the House of Music in Pardubice. One concerns the insulation of the building for 38 million crowns, while the other relates to the modernization of the social area for 45 million crowns. The modifications will limit the activities of the Chamber Philharmonic of Pardubice, which is based in the building, stated Zuzana Nováková from the governor's office in a press release.

The repair projects are prepared, and it remains to select the contractor for both buildings in the competition, which are connected. Insulation work is expected to take place this year from June to August, and the modernization of the social area from July 1, 2019, to the end of February next year. "We expect that the Chamber Philharmonic of Pardubice will return to its home premises in March 2020," said Deputy Governor Roman Línek (Coalition for Pardubice Region).

Energy-saving measures must maintain the acclaimed artistic expression of the building's exterior. The new aluminum windows and doors will have the same design and color, but with much better insulation properties. During the construction, the builders will also replace the ventilation systems for air exchange in the building's halls.

After modernization, the concert halls will achieve higher thermal and hygienic comfort, their acoustic properties will improve, and they will be equipped with audiovisual technology. The promenade in the glazed corridor will receive a new look, providing visitors with a view of the castle, along with comfortable seating and a mobile counter for serving event attendees.

The toilets and facilities, including dressing rooms, furniture storage, and other amenities, will also undergo reconstruction. In the coming years, a third stage of the modernization of the House of Music should follow these projects, which will concern the educational spaces of the Pardubice Conservatory and the basic art school. The city of Pardubice has also committed to improving the outdoor areas around the House of Music, which are under its ownership.
