Praha 5 selected the design for the planned ceremonial hall in Sacré Coeur park

Prague – The Prague 5 Town Hall has selected the design for a hall intended for weddings and cultural events, which it plans to build in Sacré Coeur Park in Smíchov. The proposal by architect Václav Škarda succeeded in the architectural competition. The Czech News Agency (ČTK) was informed about this by the spokesperson for the district, Lenka Abessi. According to the Town Hall's plans, the hall could be completed in 2025.

"It was essential for us to sensitively integrate the building into the structure of the park and also ensure certain sustainability in terms of operating costs," stated Zuzana Hamanová (STAN), a member of the competition jury and chair of the committee for urban development in Prague 5. The jury selected the winning proposal from five that advanced to the second round. A total of 19 participants entered the competition.

The hall is expected to be located in the eastern part of the park, which is situated on the slope between Holečkova and Kartouzská Streets. According to earlier information, the ceremonial hall should have a capacity of about 100 people, of which 40 to 60 will be seated. Initially, the Town Hall's management planned a hall for up to 500 people, but this proved to be financially burdensome and taxing for the park. In addition to the large hall, there should be a café and gallery in the building. In the near future, the town district also plans to build a gazebo in the park.

Currently, the district uses a ceremonial hall on Stroupežnického Street for weddings, but according to the Town Hall management, it is not sufficiently representative. According to data from the Czech Statistical Office, Prague 5 has about 89,000 inhabitants and includes Hlubočepy, Košíře, Motol, Radlice, Smíchov, and parts of Jinonice, Malá Strana, and Břevnov.
