Prague - The leadership of Prague's Zbraslav will announce an architectural competition for a new design of Zbraslav Square in the second half of the year. Zuzana Vejvodová, the mayor of the district, informed ČTK today (100pro Zbraslav). The aim of transforming the square, which is currently more of a traffic intersection than a representative space, is to unify the central areas and create a place for relaxation. The costs of the modifications will arise from the winning design.
According to previous statements from the mayor, reconstruction could start in two to four years, during which time it will be necessary to create project documentation and obtain the necessary permits to begin construction. Zbraslav wants to secure financial support from the capital city for the project.
In addition to the square in Zbraslav, the first phase of the creation of a new park in the middle of the Sluneční město housing estate is being completed. Last year, the terrain was adjusted and trees were planted; this year, the new paths will receive final adjustments. In the subsequent phases, furniture will be installed, small greenery will be planted, and a fountain with water features will be built. The total costs are ten million crowns.
In the coming years, Zbraslav would also like to acquire a new fire station. Currently, the firefighters do not have the necessary facilities, and due to the state of the existing building, it is not possible to consider an extension according to Vejvodová. Therefore, the current fire station will be demolished, and a new one could be built by 2021, where there will be space for technology, the unit, fire sports, young firefighters, and social events. The project is an investment from the city hall's investment department. The estimated costs are 50 million crowns.
The district is also selecting a contractor for a scout clubhouse, which should be completed this year. The costs for the construction are approximately 18 million crowns. A school playground valued at 50 million crowns should be opened by next spring.
Prague-Zbraslav is one of the smaller districts on the southern edge of the capital. It has about 9,930 inhabitants. The district encompasses Zbraslav and Lahovice. It is part of the municipal district of Prague 5, and the extended scope of state administration is carried out by Prague 16.
