Roztoky - The Central Bohemia Region and Roztoky have announced an architectural competition for a new primary school for the second stage and a secondary school. The complex, named Campus Cihelna, is to be established by 2028. It will connect to the current building of the first stage of the primary school, which has been located in Roztoky’s Žalov area since 2021. The capacity of the new building will be 480 places. The campus is also expected to become a natural community center for the public from Roztoky and its surroundings, including a number of companies located in the region, the Central Bohemia Regional Authority informed today on its website.
The new building is to include 16 core classrooms, four language classrooms, and another nine specialized classrooms, complemented by a school club, a library with a study room, and a multipurpose auditorium, where lectures, workshops, and even smaller concerts can be held. A cafeteria is also planned. Construction costs for the school are expected to reach 390 million crowns excluding VAT.
Architects can submit their designs for the competition until May 26. Afterwards, a jury composed of representatives from the city, the region, and independent experts will evaluate them. The jury chairman is architect Ondřej Píhrt. Among the best designs, two million crowns will be distributed as part of the awards. The expected value of the contract for the preparation of project documentation, which the winning architect should provide, amounts to nearly 28 million crowns.
At the beginning of this year, an architectural competition was also announced for a new building of a four-year gymnasium in Černošice, and the regional authority plans to proceed similarly in the case of a new gymnasium in Jesenice.
