Příbram - The architectural competition for the design of J. A. Alis Square in Příbram has announced its winner. The first prize went to the design by the monom studio. The second place was awarded by the jury to the design signed by Eliška Málková, Matěj Čunát, Marie Štefanová, and Martin Hajný. The third place was claimed by Atelier Horký. The council today made a decision based on the jury's recommendation, said Mayor Jan Konvalinka (for ANO) to ČTK. According to him, the reconstruction should take place within this electoral term.
The competing teams were tasked with proposing how to modify the square to make it a more pleasant place where people have a reason to stop. The architectural competition took place from March to September, with six designs submitted. The winning design receives 250,000 crowns, and a total of 550,000 CZK was awarded in prizes and rewards to the competition proposals.
The presentation of the designs is scheduled for Wednesday at the Gallery of František Drtikol. Interested parties can view all competition proposals in the gallery until November 16. "The city council has already approved the procedural framework for moving forward. I hope that we could proceed to implementation during this term," Konvalinka stated.
The announcement of the architectural competition was proposed by local people, and the town hall agreed. In the past, a public survey was conducted to provide guidance on the direction of the reconstruction. According to Konvalinka, the prevailing opinion was that the square should be a natural center where people from Březové Hory can meet and feel safe.
Jan Antonín Alis was a foreman, a master of the forge, a mining manager, and a mining councillor from the old Příbram burgher family of Alis.
