Results of the International Competition for the Information Pavilion at the London 2012 Olympics

In the competition [London] Olympic Games Information Pavilion, which involved several hundred international architectural teams, Czech architects Kurtis+partners [Iveta Kolláriková, Marta Bímová, Vlado Hrivňák, and Gabriel Sedlak] from Brno made it to the top ten.
The competition task was to design a temporary information pavilion at Trafalgar Square in London. The goal was to encourage architects to push boundaries. To find and appreciate the masterful design of a small object combining function, construction, detail, and the spirit of the Olympic Games, to highlight new perspectives on designing an information pavilion, and to also utilize methods of sustainable construction. The pavilion is intended to promote the Olympic Games during their occurrence in London in 2012.
The competition organizer, the London company [AC-CA], focuses on organizing architectural competitions. Its activities create opportunities for expressing talent, visions, and architectural passions. It becomes a space for showcasing architectural visions and concepts arising from competitions. Winning designs are published on the company's website www.ac-ca.org and in prestigious international architectural magazines - the Portuguese About:Blank Architecture Magazine, the United States - Surface Magazine and Metropolis Magazine, and the Indian Architecture+Design magazine.
The winner of the competition was a team of Portuguese architects consisting of Jose Carlos Cruz, Ines Guedes, Miguel Santos, and Antonio Cruz. The second place was taken by a French team comprising Stephanie Durniak, Marie Fade, Baptiste Franceschi, Lionel Cesarole, and the third place belongs to a team from the United States - Mathew Clare and Rob Duncan. The team Kurtis+partners received an honorable mention for their design, thus placing among the top ten.
