Grand opening of the permanent exhibition 1956–1989: Architecture for All, exhibitions by Eva Koťátková: My Body is Not an Island and the project Atlas: Creation Studio and Laboratory of Associative Daydreaming will take place on December 6, 2022, at 7:00 PM.

The exhibition focuses on architecture and lifestyle between 1956–1989. Lifestyle is a phenomenon where everyday experiences intersect with architecture and design as creative disciplines. Against the backdrop of modernity, characterized by the transition to a post-industrial society, the growth of the tertiary sector, services, significant advancements in (tele)communication and audiovisual media, the specific Czech situation appears as a distinctive case study with different aspects of the political development of the Cold War. The goal of the exhibition is to overcome the binary view of East–West, artificially maintained since the fall of the Iron Curtain 30 years ago, and to make it comprehensible in the European context.

The exhibition presents significant works from the Collection of Architecture of the National Gallery Prague by authors such as Václav Aulický, Věra and Vladimír Machonin, František Cubr, Karel Prager, Alena Šrámková, creative collectives like Sial Liberec, and others, supplemented by photographs, films from the National Film Archive, and period publications.
