Kunín - An exhibition titled Adolf Loos & Victor Bauer has begun at the castle in Kunín in the Nový Jičín region. It highlights the collaboration between two natives of Brno, the famous architect Loos and the significant Moravian industrialist Bauer. The exhibition will run until the end of October. The castle's curator Jaroslav Zezulčík informed ČTK today.

He stated that for Bauer, who was also the owner of the castle in Kunín, Loos designed a villa for the director of the sugar factory in Hrušovany in 1914 and a year later the interior furnishings of several rooms. "In 1919, Bauer also invited Loos to visit the castle in Kunín to participate in the new furnishing of the castle rooms," said the curator. However, these works ultimately did not take place.

"A few years later, however, Adolf Loos began working on the interior of Bauer's main residence at the villa in Brno, for which he primarily designed the spaces and furnishings of the Large Dining Room on the ground floor and the New Bedroom on the first floor of the castle," Zezulčík noted.

According to him, the exhibition clarifies the collaboration between the two men based on previously completely unknown documents. "It places individual events in the broader context of family events and society at the time, at the crossroads of the old world and new conditions after the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic," the curator stated.

The exhibition is complemented by original collections originating from the castle in Kunín, which Loos used in the installation of his rooms, unique models of his buildings, and also examples of the clothing of the married couple Victor and Margareta Bauer.
