The National Heritage Institute, the regional professional workplace in Ostrava, cordially invites you to the exhibition
Shady and Defenseless
The vernissage will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at 6 PM in the chain locker rooms of the National Cultural Monument Důl Michal in Ostrava – Michálkovice. The exhibition will be opened by Mr. Radovan Lipus. The exhibition will last until September 9, 2007.
The exhibition features large-format panoramic black-and-white photographs from the Shady and Defenseless calendars from the last few years. The author of the photographs is Michael Míček. The contemporary photographs are complemented by archival period images of the objects. The project authors, architect David Vávra and director Radovan Lipus, supplement the photographs with texts and poems. The exhibition highlights endangered monuments and architectural objects predominantly from the 20th century in Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia.
Throughout 2007 and 2008, the exhibition will travel around Czech and Moravian towns and will also be presented abroad. It was first introduced to the public in March 2007 at the Czech Centre in Vienna.
