Luhačovice (Zlínsko) - A new exhibition in Luhačovice in the Zlín region brings the work of architect Bohuslav Fuchs closer to the public. People can view it at the Radun Hotel, which is also a work of Fuchs. After Dušan Jurkovič, Fuchs is the second architect who influenced the appearance of the spa town, said Laďka Horňáková from the Zlín regional gallery of fine arts to ČTK today.

"Jurkovič gave Luhačovice a stylistic spirit of Art Nouveau, Fuchs, twenty years later, infused it with the spirit of functionalism," stated Horňáková, who is the curator of the architecture collection in the regional gallery. Fuchs built several modern guesthouses in Luhačovice, especially in the White Quarter. "He also started working on regulatory plans for the spa joint-stock company in the early 1920s, and then worked for it as an experienced architect in the pre-war and wartime years, but those plans were never realized," said Horňáková.
According to her, the Luhačovice guesthouse Sáva was a prototype of ideal living in a spa town. According to Horňáková, Fuchs also influenced the appearance of the spas in Trenčianské Teplice and primarily worked in Brno.
The exhibition titled "Famous Buildings, Villas, and Family Houses of Bohuslav Fuchs" was prepared on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the architect's birth and will last until August 2.
