The project of revitalization and extension of the Kaispeicher building (a port warehouse or granary) in Hamburg by H&deM has undergone significant changes these days. The external form, evoking the stretched sails of a ship sailing on the Elbe, remains for now. Changes have been made to the internal organic landscape of the foyer and concert halls. After consultations with Yasuhisa Toyota (master acoustician who also contributed to the design of WDCH), the number of seats in the hall had to be reduced and the bold interior modified. The project for the concert hall, hotel, and residential buildings costing 186 million euros is expected to be completed in 2009. Info>
