Prague - At the beginning of August, it has been 100 years since the death of architect Josef Zítek, one of the most significant figures in the history of the National Theatre. In connection with this anniversary, the theatre has prepared an exhibition on the balcony of the historic building, showcasing his original drawings and designs documenting the architectural development of this building. Further events will take place during September. For example, on September 2nd, a symposium will be held in the historic building, led by Karel Ksandr, the deputy director of the National Museum. It will include a guided tour of the building, lectures, discussions, a panel discussion, and screenings of archival films. The event will feature the launch of a book titled Josef Zítek - architect, educator, and heritage conservationist. It is written by Karel Ksandr and is published by the National Theatre for this anniversary. On Saturday, September 5th, a memorial act for Josef Zítek will take place in the South Bohemian villages of Lčovice, where Zítek owned an estate, and Malenice, where he is buried. At the castle in Lčovice, the director of the National Theatre, Ondřej Černý, will unveil a memorial plaque for the architect and inaugurate an exhibition dedicated to the Zítka family's influence on the Lčovice estate. In the nearby church in Malenice, a mass will be held for architect Josef Zítek, followed by a commemorative act at the family tomb.
