Brno - The city company Starez-sport, which manages sports facilities in Brno, plans to repair the floors in the aquapark in Kohoutovice in September. Water does not drain from them, causing them to be slippery, and additionally, water is leaking into the machinery room. The tender price is seven million crowns, said Starez director Martin Mikš to reporters.

The aquapark has been facing deficiencies since its opening in 2010. "The quality of the work performed was poor and careless, and the wrong material was chosen for the floors. A tender for the contractor is currently underway, and work should begin in September," said Mikš. The area is expected to be completely closed for about two weeks; otherwise, gradual repairs and partial service restrictions are planned. "Therefore, we are considering reducing the entrance fee when people will not have full comfort,” said Mikš.
The company Stavoprogres is responsible for the poor-quality work, and the city has been complaining about parts of the construction from the beginning. Some deficiencies have been corrected by the company, but it has not accepted some objections, and the city is still in litigation with the company. Any potential damage claims, however, will be more challenging because the company has been in bankruptcy since last year, and it left behind millions in debts to dozens of creditors. The construction cost the city 210 million crowns five years ago, which was significantly more than the originally estimated price.
Despite the problems at the aquapark, visitor numbers continue to rise, according to Mikš, very significantly. Lifeguards have to continuously wipe the standing water on the floor to prevent someone from slipping and potentially injuring themselves.
