Andělská Hora - Andělská Hora in the Karlovy Vary region today opened to the public the restored Church of the Holy Trinity, the renovation of which cost more than 25 million crowns. This unique three-sided building from 1702, which is the only one of its kind in the Karlovy Vary region, will primarily be used as a cultural and social center. It also includes a regional information center. The church is located very close to the main road between Karlovy Vary and Prague, which increases its attractiveness and accessibility, said Mayor Miroslav Očko today to ČTK. The Church of the Holy Trinity, which has deteriorated significantly over the past three decades, has been attempted to be saved by the municipality since 1990. However, there was not enough money, so it mainly involved minor maintenance work worth barely three million crowns in total. A radical turnaround occurred in 2004. Andělská Hora received a grant from the Ministry of Culture of 25 million crowns, the mayor noted. "The repair of the church was carried out under the supervision of heritage protectors by the company Bau-Stav Karlovy Vary over a period of one and a half years. Before the actual reconstruction, an archaeological survey was conducted, during which the foundations of the original third chapel were found," Očko remarked. The municipality intends to organize exhibitions and concerts in the church, which should also serve as a ceremonial hall for Andělská Hora and the surrounding municipalities and towns. The first artist to present their work here is Karlovy Vary painter Petr Strnad. "However, we still need to finalize the operation of the information center. For now, a local enthusiastic pensioner will provide temporary services, as we do not have funds for a permanent staff. The municipality's budget is barely a million crowns per year. Therefore, we will negotiate with representatives of Karlovy Vary and the regional office to see if they could support the operation of the information center for the entire region," Očko added. The church, surrounded by an enclosing wall, was built between 1696 and 1702 according to the design of the court architect of the Černíns, Alliprandi. It stands on a symbolically triangular layout with beveled corners. The Church of the Holy Trinity is interesting not only for its appearance but also for its interior design. The spaces are decorated with frescoes of the veneration of the Holy Cross from 1783. "The so-called Trinity church is unique in that it follows the symbol of the sacred triangle down to absolute details. This is where its architectural significance lies, transcending the borders of the region," said Stanislav Burachovič, a historian from the Karlovy Vary Museum.
