Liberec - The Liberec association Ještěd 73 is preparing another renovation of the interiors of the famous mountain hotel and transmitter Ještěd. After the salon, which was renewed last year, this time the neighboring bar should return to its original form from the 1970s. Costs are estimated at approximately 800,000 CZK. The association has already contacted the Liberec Region, the city of Liberec, the hotel operator, and Czech Radiocommunications for a contribution. Just like last year, the public can also contribute to the renewal of the bar, said the chairwoman of the association, Milena Lánská, yesterday to ČTK.
The Ještěd hotel and transmitter are among the most original architectural works in the Czech Republic, and the Liberec Region is striving for its inclusion on the UNESCO heritage list. Last year, the region allocated 100,000 crowns for the renovation of the salon, and regional councilors will decide on this year's contribution in August. "We also discussed that it would definitely be good to give that support a certain regularity," said the deputy governor for culture, Hana Maierová (Mayors for the Liberec Region).
The unique building, for which architect Karel Hubáček received the prestigious international Perret Prize, has been a national cultural monument since 2006, and people chose it as the Czech Building of the Century. However, when an exhibition of architectural proposals took place 50 years ago, most visitors criticized or outright rejected Hubáček's design. This is evidenced by the visitor's book that was discovered during the preparation of the exhibition for the 40th anniversary of Ještěd. Today, the building is a landmark of Liberec and the entire region, and no one can imagine the mountain without it.
People have the opportunity to contribute to the renewal of Ještěd through a collection that the association started last July. Contributions can still be sent to account 259 826 549/0300. Last year, over 100,000 crowns were collected. The money from the collection is intended for the production of replicas of the original furnishings. "Only the bar, which is attached to the floor, has been preserved; the bar stools, tables, and armchairs will need to be made again according to the original designs that we received from their author - architect Otakar Binár," said Lánská.
The owner of the mountain hotel and transmitter has been Czech Radiocommunications (ČRa) since 2000, which acquired Ještěd for 85 million crowns. Since then, they have invested approximately 50 million more into its repairs. Czech Radiocommunications support the renovation of the monument. In recent years, Ještěd has also been connected to the city sewer system, and the laminate shell has been repaired in areas where transmitters are located. The hotel's rooms are also undergoing gradual renovations, with the operator - Ještěd company - striving to return them to their original appearance.
