Benešov – The Benešov city hall is looking for a new director of the Museum of Art and Design to replace Lenka Škvorová, who recently resigned. However, the initial selection process became complicated and had to be canceled. Applications for the new competition are accepted until next Friday, said Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Zahradníček (Choice for Benešov).

According to Zahradníček, three candidates applied for the first selection process, but only one of them met the required criteria. "The selection committee agreed that in this case, the best option is to cancel the selection process and announce it again," the deputy mayor stated.

Now, there is again a wait for the submission of applications, with a deadline until July 30. "During August, we would like the actual process to take place and a new director to be selected, or possibly appointed," the deputy mayor added.

Škvorová took over the museum in 2017 after the departure of Tomáš Fassati, and she was officially appointed director two years later. She resigned this spring, citing disagreements with the culture department at the Benešov city hall among other reasons. The management of the museum has been temporarily entrusted to Alena Ochepovsky, head of its artistic department.

Zahradníček had previously told ČTK that the city administration was satisfied with Škvorová's work. According to him, the museum operated excellently under her leadership, even during the pandemic. However, he did not dispute that communication between the museum and the culture department was more complicated.
