Chrudim - A storm that swept through the Pardubice region last night destroyed the new unique lookout tower Bára in the area of Na Podhůře near Chrudim. Visitors could only enjoy it for a very short time. Jaroslav Hlavinka from the Chrudim municipal police informed CTK about this. "Half of the lookout tower is gone. We have secured the site to ensure no one gets injured. We are waiting for the architect's statement, who will decide whether the structure can be saved or has to be demolished," he said. The 19-meter tall lookout tower was made of larch boards arranged in the shape of a triangular pyramid. The builders used a minimal number of fasteners. At a height of 15 meters, there was an observation platform. The wind knocked the wood off half of the structure, the tip of the lookout tower remained intact, Hlavinka specified. The city had the tourist attraction built for two million crowns according to a design by Martin Rajniš, who also designed the Post Office on Sněžka and is known for the unusual construction of the Wood Depot in the Jizera Mountains.
