Dominican Square will change next year. Brno residents will decide what it will look like. Two models of the redesigned Dominican Square will be exhibited by the Brno councilors at the Urban Center at the Old Town Hall. And in February next year, Brno residents will vote on which design they prefer. The proposals from the offices of ArchDesign and Atelier Brno, which won the tender held by the municipality this year, will compete for the favor of the Brno residents. Regardless of which design the Brno residents choose, three things will be certain for the square. Both projects account for them. As a reminder of the well that stood in the former Fish Market until 1820, a fountain will be created in the middle of the square. The architects of both offices also plan to open additional spaces under the terrace of St. Michael's Church, where a café with outdoor seating and smaller shops could be established. Another change is that there will no longer be any parked cars in front of the municipal building on the square. In the adjacent Panenská Street, a parking garage for 300 vehicles will be constructed simultaneously with the square's reconstruction, which will be accessed from Husova Street. However, while the architects of Atelier Brno rely on the historically given slope of the square, the authors of the ArchDesign proposal redesigned two-thirds of the area with a wide staircase and leveled the lower part towards Veselá.
