Brno - The parking lot at Dominican Square in Brno will disappear and will be transformed into a public space. Starting April 5, traffic in the surrounding area will be restricted, and the reconstruction of the square will begin, with traffic signs already placed around it. During the construction period, it will also not be possible to use 25 designated parking spots on Veselá Street and in the square itself. Drivers will be able to use designated spots in Zelný trh and elsewhere on Veselá, said Zuzana Šrámková from the press department of the city hall in a press release.

Access to Dominican Square will be prohibited from Středova Street, and it will not be possible to drive through from Veselá to Dominican Street.

All the engineering networks below the surface will be reconstructed in the square, and then a new surface will be laid, at an estimated cost of around 60 million crowns. "It should be completed this year so that the Christmas markets can take place in the square. However, the duration of the reconstruction will also depend on any potential archaeological finds," Šrámková noted.

Dominican Square is set to become a public space. The long-planned reconstruction of the Jalta Palace, which is privately owned, is also in preparation.
