Brno – Brno will spend nearly 100 million CZK to repair the football stadium on Srbská Street, where Zbrojovka plays. The city council approved the investment plan today for the modifications necessary for certification for future first league and international matches. The current condition of the stadium does not meet their standards, said city councilor for sports Tomáš Aberl (TOP 09) to reporters.
The investment plan outlines several modifications. "At the entrance from Srbská, there will be a system of mobile containers. Here, a treatment room for spectators, a working room for media, match commentators, and television studios will be created. The entrance to the pitch will be covered, the roofing of the stands will be expanded, and a backup power source will be ensured. We also plan to separate the guest and home sectors, replace seats, and install new sound systems," Aberl said.
He estimates the total cost at 96.5 million CZK excluding tax. The work is planned to start in 2025. The aim is to complete it as quickly as possible to prevent footballers from missing any potential first league matches. Although Zbrojovka has currently dropped out of the first league, the city wants to ensure that matches of the highest Czech football league or international matches are played in Brno in the future. The conditions for obtaining certification stem from the new requirements of the League Football Association and the Football Association of the Czech Republic.
The city is also planning a complete reconstruction of the main playing surface, including the replacement of the grass and the expansion of areas for players' warm-up behind the goals. This part, costing around 40 million CZK, is set to take place next year.
